Description: We, the visitors from Planet Zonty, have noticed Earth Animals like to play a game where a ball is kicked into a net. We want you to feel comfortable here even as we observe you. Here are the rules:
Stage 1: Player Choice and Stat Assignment
In the first 24 hours of this challenge, you need to do two things: pick your players and assign stats.
Pick Your Players
A thread will be created in each tribe’s camp. Each tribe must pick one goalkeeper and five penalty takers. Place these players in order Taker 1 through Taker 5. These should be players who are able to be online at 6pm EDT on May 15th. This is especially true of the goalkeeper. The last clear entry of players assigned to positions will be taken as the official one. Please make sure that it's clear when you're submitting your roster and when you're just discussing it (it's fine to change your submissions before the deadline).
Assign Your Stats
Each individual taker starts with a 5 in the stat Kick Right and a 5 in the stat Kick Left. Your tribe has 25 additional points they can place in these stats. A player’s statistic cannot be more than 10 or less than 5. To do so just post something like:
Make sure this totals 75 points and no stat is lower than 5.
Note: The other tribe WILL see the statistics of your tribe (and you'll see theirs).
Stage 2: Strategy
The character identity of each taker, keeper, and the statistics of each taker will be posted in this thread for everyone to see. For the next 22 hours (until the Live Shootout), your tribe may discuss your strategy with each other.
Stage 3: The Penalty Shootout!
No further private discussion may occur (no more directing the players).The goalkeeper of each tribe will have a special thread created in their confessional. A coin will be flipped to see which side defends first. One by one, alternating between tribes, the takers will take their shot. The goalkeeper will choose between four choices:
Once the keeper has chosen, the referee (the mod) will post <Player Name>: Go. Then that player will post Kick Left, Kick Right, or Kick Center in this thread.
The action will resolve as follows:
First, the shot will either be “on target” or not. Centrally kicked balls are always on target. If the ball is kicked left or right, the moderator will roll a d10 die. If it is higher than the player’s relevant statistic, the ball misses and there is no point earned for the taker.
Second, if the shot is on target, the keeper has a chance to save. If the keeper dives the correct direction (whether left, right or center) the keeper makes the save. If the keeper chooses to wait, a d10 is rolled. If the shot was taken to the left or right and the dice roll was 3 or higher, a goal is scored. If the shot was taken center, on a 6 or higher a goal is scored.
In the event a taker does not select within 5 minutes of being told to go, they will Kick Center. In the event the keeper does not select within 5 minutes of their team’s previous kick being resolved, they will Stay Center.
The team who scores the most goals out of 5 wins. If it is impossible for one team to lose, the competition is over and no more players will kick (meaning no bonus points are possible for those players). If there is a tie after 5 takers, the order starts over again and it is sudden death (first team to score without the other team also scoring will win).
