Right now I'm basically just doing everything I can to create the potential for unity between the bottom of the game. I'm perceiving Pika, Red Panda and Fennec as being at the top here, with Jerboa functionally being with them as a fourth. Myself, Meerkat and Whet Owl are distinctly NOT at the top.
I have just made a Final 2 deal with Lorry, who has affirmed that she is interested in making a move on Pika soon. (success!) There seems to be conflict between her and Meerkat, but I'm hoping that I can rectify that.
That leaves Sand Cat and Ermine. Sand Cat is the bigger problem, because I think she is actually just the biggest beneficiary of the current status quo and likely does really well if things stay exactly as they are. I'm hoping I can convince her otherwise. (I don't exactly have the highest hopes for this, but I'm looking to form a very close connection with her ANYWAYS, to hopefully give myself outs if things go wrong.) Ermine is still a perpetual wildcard, but like, I think it's possible to sway him?
The biggest piece of new info I need to get is what exactly Sand Cat is thinking long-term

So I've done some thinking.
I think I'm right that Pika, Red Panda and Fennec are to be worried about here. I think I was wrong to keep Sand Cat out of that group as well though. Pika and Red Panda both adore her; I'd argue she's the most universally liked player in the game.
I tried to float Jerboa as a vote option today. It sounds like most people are open to the possibility... but Pika wants to wait until next round, when Whet Owl is gone. So it's been shut down, just like that. Great. So this is what it feels like to be at the bottom against one of these hardcore social alliances!
I've changed tactics. Jerboa and I have reached an agreement. We recognise that the Powers That Be have just left us both alive despite our attempts to go after each other, just so they could get Whet Owl out first and no one could use him as an extra number. Jerboa isn't the most reliable ally, but I think he's clever enough to know we really could get a lot out of working together here.
So there's myself, Jerboa, Lorry, Meerkat who would work against the big threats. Ermine is still my big question mark. I'm asking Jerboa how he feels about Ermine. I believe that if we can get her on board, we might actually have a group of five willing and able to vote together at the Final Nine.
This plan is ridiculous, but I feel like it might be necessary. I simply don't think I can outplay the Pika/Red Panda/Fennec/Sand Cat group once they manage to get a plurality, with the time I have available to play. These players are too good.

Though it is worth nothing that I've given myself an out - I do legitimately believe that Jerboa could go next if I just do nothing at all. I don't like my chances of winning if that happens, but it's better than everything blowing up in my face. So it's a nice eject button.

Haha, you don't need to apologise to me for being busy. It happens. We work with what we've got. What I'm frustrated about is that a lot of people expressed SUPPORT for the idea of getting Jerboa out, but then said someone they weren't willing to name wanted to keep Jerboa around for a round and vote Whet Owl this time. The only person who told me outright that they didn't want Jerb last night was Pika. So my inference is that she's the one who spearheaded Whet Owl last vote. I've got two ideas, both with advantages and disadvantages. 1) We try again for Jerboa at the next TC, with more commitment. We try and appeal to Pika and Lorry. At Final 8, we probably try to push... Ermine? And then at 7 we hope that people are starting to think about endgame and we look like viable people to sit next to in their plans. I actually think this is likely to work, based on my conversations with Pika and Lorry. The problem I see is that we're basically giving all the cards to them. I don't see this as a solid way of getting either of us in a place where we might win this game. We might have a chance against like Lorry or something, but even then I think she's got an advantage. So that's why I've got another idea floating around. 2) Frankly, I think RP/Fennec/Pika/Sand Cat stand out REALLY hard right now as playing the most solid games. (Let me know if you agree or disagree!) I think critters that aren't those four need to be concerned about those four completely dominating this game. They are in the majority, and any endgame with all of them in it likely devolves into the four of them choosing how to split up, one or two of them making FTC, and one of them winning. So my idea is essentially to get a group against that group right now. Jerboa feels paranoid and desperate, and just blew his idol - I believe he'd do it, if we tried to get him on board. I've been working on making amends with him and I think he currently sees a move with the outside as his only viable option. Lorry seems to like chaos and has been teasing the idea of making a move for a little while with me. I think she's probably in the best spot of everyone at the 'bottom', but I think we could get her anyway. I feel the main risk factor is Ermine, I'm not sure what she's thinking or where her head is at. But I do legitimately think Ermine needs to make a move soon if she wants a chance of winning, and maybe she'd listen to that appeal. I think it's doable. Obviously very risky, but a lot more achievable than it seems at first glance. AND, it would be epic. Let me know what you think. My preference is Plan 2, because why not go for something that completely shakes things up and gives us a solid shot at winning the game? But I'm with you on this. If Plan 1 feels safer to you and you'd prefer it, we can try our best to make things work from there. This is my plan pitched to Meerkat. Jerboa has gotten a shorter version of it. I suppose I'll elaborate I've been talking a bit with Jerboa. He basically came clean to me about lying about me, admitted a fair amount about how he's been playing sketchy, and essentially said he really didn't like his position and thought we were both towards the bottom. We chatted for a bit, and I think I actually have him on-side. Meerkat seems to still be entirely up for a move as well (even though at this point if he just did nothing he'd probably be fine? lol) We just need one more and we have the potential to make a move against the top at the upcoming TC, if that's something you wanted to do. I have two ideas for how that could be pulled off: 1) We could try and get Pika interested in a play tonight? I don't get the sense that she wants a move right this second - I think she wants to bring us to 7 and then do something, when there's not much time or resources for us to counter her afterwards - but maybe she'd do it for us? I'm a little doubtful. 2) What is your read on Ermine? I feel like she should really be thinking about making a move here if she wants a shot at winning to be honest - and I wonder if pitching the fact that Pika/RP/Fennec/Sand Cat are all big social threats would be an effective way of persuading her. But I don't know if it'd work. Do you think she would make a play if she thought it would strengthen her chances of winning? I do have a legit worry that Pika, RP, Fennec and Sand Cat together are all active, social and strong enough that letting them into Final 8 all together basically surrenders a ton of agency to them, and people are going to wonder what we did at the end compared to them. That's why I'm starting to think making a move this round might be the right play. Plus, it would just be kinda epic lol. The last two votes have had boring/expected outcomes. Something like Cappy->Owl->Jerboa->Meerkat or Ermine is a very boring route to Final 7. So I would love to hear your thoughts! And here is what Lorry has gotten. I've also gently reached out to Ermine about the concept of working together and being wary of some of the bigger threats: Hey Ermine, is there a time before this challenge is up where you and I can both be around and chat for a bit? We're getting closer to the end, and I'm starting to think about what's the best way to get there with a shot at winning. I think you and I are in a uniquely similar situation, in that we're both around a bit less than the others in the game. I don't think that's stopped either of us from making connections or playing effective games. But I think this game is stacked surprisingly high with rather strong social players, and as a result I'm worried about my own chances against some of the bigger presences in the game. I'm curious about your thoughts! I, uh, don't feel confident that this will work. But dammit, I'm going to win this game or go out spectacularly trying! I don't want to sit at the end and be told I didn't play as well as my competition because I wasn't able to be as active. I've got to outplay.

My biggest concerns about the success of this plan:
1) Ermine might be in too deep with her alliance. I legitimately think Ermine needs to make a move around now if she wants a jury to value her game highly. No one talks about Ermine at all, at least not to me. If all stays the same for much longer, I don't think Ermine can win over a jury. But Ermine might not be the type of player to see that easily, or to care.
2) Lorry might get cold feet, or otherwise lose interest. I actually think Lorry would be fine waiting to make a move. She has more of a case to win than some others, and might even beat the big threats with her unique journey. She also doesn't want her allies to find out she's up for a move. So she's not super reliable. But I hope I can get her interested anyway, because I think this play is the kind she might not be able to help herself from making.

So let's see...
Important context: Pika and I had a big conversation all about how we committed earlier in the game to making this game fun and wild and just enjoying it. I pointed out that these first votes of merge have been the opposite of that. She apologised, and said she was going to get back into that mindset. (Spoilers: she didn't)
What happened last TC? Ermine made it very clear to me that she was not focused on playing to impress a jury and would be happy to simply reach FTC, and therefore my entire approach to trying to get her on-side was doomed from the start. But Pika and Sand Cat then came and said they were interested in making a play against Aquarium. Lorry and I both chatted with Pika about voting for Red Panda or Fennec, but the only vote Pika was apparently willing to go for was Ermine. So we're all set to vote Ermine even though that's not really what anyone wants ideally. And then it comes out that Pika and Sand Cat aren't actually sure that this is what they want to do... I tried to convince Pika and Sand Cat to vote Ermine, but Pika hardly engaged with me on it and ultimately stuck to whatever she has with Red Panda. I do have a very special connection with Pika here, but I'm done with pretending she's going to work towards my interests that aren't strictly survival.
This vote, Jerboa comes up to me and is like 'the vote is straight-up 4-4 unless you flip to Aquarium.' Woohoo. I heavily considered intentionally forcing rocks for a while to try and get one of Pika or Aquarium out. Jerboa apparently tells Pika/Lorry/Sand Cat that he'd like to make a blindside on Red Panda.
Then I wake up this morning, and there's a movement from Lorry/Sand Cat/Jerboa to take out Red Panda! Cool! Jerboa seems to legit be in it this time, is proper kissing up to me and apologising for not doing it last time. I think these four people actually want to vote Red Panda. The question is now how we make the vote not 4-4.

So the vote has swapped to Pika. Those same four, just on Pika instead. Apparently Pika is meant to be splitting a vote on myself, to her demise. I think she's entirely savvy enough to sniff out trouble and vote Jerboa anyway to save herself, but I'm hoping she won't.
This... is not when and how I expected Pika to go. I adore Pika. Everyone adores Pika. But we're here to play a game. Pika knows this is coming, she just possibly doesn't know it's coming right now.

In other news, I've started up a decent conversation with Fennec Fox. We haven't gelled since merge, which has been largely my fault. But I'm essentially proposing that we keep our options open and consider working together to our mutual benefit as we approach the endgame. She felt as bad about the Meerkat vote as I did, for different reasons - she apparently put a lot of effort into trying to make me the target, and essentially just got shut down by Pika and Panda. So she's got the same issue I have right now, which is feeling a lack of agency. I'm hoping she is in a place where she's willing to play the game with me over those she has developed stronger relationships with.

What a rush! The Underdogs group chat is kicking off right now.
Pika was sweet in the end. This was the right decision I think. The last thing she told me to do was get Red Panda out.

All sorts! Terrarium as a whole was incredibly fun and wild. This last vote was too. There have been so many great players in this game, both gone and still in. It's a stacked cast, and that leads to some really interesting play.

I'm trying to work out how I can get to the end safely and with a good chance of winning. Lorry is great, but I think she looks WAY better than me right now. She's better connected and she's done more. She's got the lovable newbie thing going for her as well, with the redemption story from being close to going TC 1. I'd vote for Lorry if she gave a good FTC case. I'd like to sit next to Jerb if possible. We've been getting a lot closer since this group chat started. Lorry let me know that she and Sand Cat want to vote Jerb at 6, which means I'm obviously not interested in letting that happen. I'd totally go to the end with Jerb, he's awesome and I think I've got a good chance against him. I'm talking a lot more with Fennec lately. She's feeling a distinct lack of agency, which I also feel. I'm trying to ease my way into gaining her trust with honest commentary on our situation. I do think I'm someone she could beat if she's at the end with me, is the thing. But I think it's competitive, that we both have a shot. I've got plans with both Jerb and Lorry/SandCat against the other. I think what I want to do is just go to Fennec and make the play she wants to make.
